Arukah House Ministries was founded by Charlton Thompson and his wife Christie and is located in Pascagoula, MS. Christie and Charlton saw the need first hand, as they served the homeless families throughout the surrounding areas of Mobile, Alabama.
We fed, clothed, discipled, and brought people into our home to love and care for them. Men, women, and children, all dealing with issues from homelessness, drugs, alcoholism, prostitution, pornography, broken families, etc., many of which also were dealing with prior records or child custody issues.
We were never able to find a ministry that would take an entire family without splitting them up. My wife Christie said, ‘We need God to give us a place for families’.
The Holy Spirit moved and in June 2013 the vision for Arukah House Ministries was birthed. In September of 2013, the Thompson’s learned of an old church and parsonage for sale in Moss Point, MS., it was purchased and with a little remodeling, Arukah House Ministries began.
Immediately, the ministry began to flourish, and fill to capacity housing families in need. A larger building would be needed if the ministry were to flourish! After much prayer, God was faithful and generous! In 2018 the ministry was donated two very nice buildings in Pascagoula, MS., by a local realtor and renovations began on the first building, including showers, laundry, bathrooms, bedrooms, and a full service kitchen. The ministry moved into the new buildings on July 4th, 2019.
As of 2021, Arukah House is once again at capacity and renovations have begun on the second building. In addition to this expansion, the original church and parsonage in Moss Point is being prepared for our Men’s ministry. God is incredibly generous, merciful, and intentional, with Arukah House Ministries and its people.
